WAND: Women’s Action for New Directions – Woman’s anti-war, anti-military group.
Whitman Walker Clinic - Health clinic focusing on HIV/AIDS, and GLBT issues.
Witness Against Torture – Activist group that has decided that Guantanamo is nothing more than a torture facility, and a blight against humanity. Judging from the pictures of their members, most are still living in their parents' garage. (Just my very biased opinion...)
Wishadoo – Essentially a Craigslist type of site dedicated to connecting people who need help with people who wish to help. Didn't see any red flags on the site, and based on what little I read (just skimming sites, remember), I am a bit surprised they endorsed the rally.
Win Without War – Fighting to, “... promote a more progressive national security strategy.” Coalition members include such upstanding organizations like moveon.org, and Sojourners.
Ward 7 Business Professional Association- DC based organization of businesses (near as I can tell).
Veterans for Peace – Anti-war, “ban all nukes” group.
Voices for Creative Nonviolence – another anti-war group, opposed to the US “occupation” of Iraq. Again, just skimming, but looks like another “appease the Muslims” group...
Voice of Haitian Americans Inc. - Organization lobbying for Haitian Americans.
Harlem One Stop – Looks like a tourism site for Harlem.
Welfare Rights Committee – Where do I begin... from their site: “We demand a People's Bailout! Make the rich pay for their crisis! Bail out poor and working people, not the rich!” Moving right along...: “Jobs or income now! Extend unemployment benefits. Make more workers eligible for unemployment benefits. Create a public works program that puts people to work now. Put a moratorium on the 5 year time limit for public assistance.” Need I go on? A parasite web site in its purest form.
Veterans for Peace NY – You guessed it...anti-military and anti-war.
Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations – a “theologically diverse religion, that encourages individual search for truth and meaning (which means you can believe what you want..they're diverse!) The website promotes the three key phrases of socialism: “social justice”, “tolerance”, and “diversity.”
Urban Agenda – NY based, dedicated to advancing social, economic, and environmental justice. Connected to the Apollo Alliance (spooky guys), green job groups, and lots-o-unions.
United Mine Workers of America – Union. Part of AFL-CIO.
US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation- Dedicated to removing Israeli “occupation” from Palestinian West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.” Ah yes, those evil Israelis, who have been on that land for how long now? 3,000 years or more? How dare they oppress those poor, helpless, oppressed Palestinians. (Ok, forget the fact that the Palestinians have broken EVERY treaty that was signed between them and Israel, and routinely shoot rockets into Israel...)
US Peace Council – pushing for world peace, no nukes, anti-imperialism, social justice, economic justice...
US Human Rights Network – ok, wait for it.....here we go... “Human rights include civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights.” “Human rights are protected through building social movements.” “...requires that the emerging human rights movement merge with movements for social justice in this country.”
TWU Local 100 – Transport Workers Union.
William Kelibrew Foundation – “...a resource for people and institutions committed to breaking the cycle of violence and poverty.” Based in Washington, D.C. Within the offices of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. >HACK< Sorry; just threw up in my mouth...
That's all I can stomach for tonight.
